ECLiPSE 2002

Quite often when I open Windows Explorer it hangs and when I go to
Task Manager to end the task the monitor momentarily goes black and
reopens in the Desktop. Any programs that were open including Windows
Explorer have closed as there is nothing shown in the Quick launch
bar.

This is not an issue with overtaxed resources or memory problems ( 512
MB memory and 120 GB storage) - the problem occurs when no others
programs are running and I have only a few programs set to start with
windows and have reduced the number of window services that run
automatically

Is this a problem that is unique with my PC or have others experienced
the same problem with XP.

Any suggestions would be welcomed,

Frank

Have you tried a system restore back to a point in time before the
problem started?

I should have mentioned that Dr Watson shows the following application
error: C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE c0000005
ntdllllRtlAllocatedHeap[77F57EB2].

Don't know exactly what this tells the more experienced users.
