I find that whenever I try to watch a video with this program the audio is
crackly and distorted.

Does anyone know of a setting that can fix this?

Thanks.

I don't. for me the sound is only low, and when there is nothing
on the sound track *then* comes up some noise, otherways it is
ok.

However it's a known issue on VLC. -->google

Some times it helps if you Reset VLC's settings

If you have installed VLC then you should have a shortcut called
"Reset VLC defaults and quit" in the VLC program menu.
Use that shortcut for resetting VLC's settings

If you don't have the shortcut, then you can use this
vlc.exe --reset-config --reset-plugins-cache --save-config vlc:quit

If that don't help, then maybe you should try the latest
nightly build VLC version and see if that helps.

The latest nightly build for Windows this one
http://nightlies.videolan.org/build...-0000/vlc-0.8.4-test1-20051028-0000-win32.exe
8.6Mb large installation file

If that don't help, then you give the boys and girls at The VideoLAN Forums
a call and hope that they can help you with the problem
