I'm a moron and opened the "microsoft update" email, and
am now trying to recover. I am following symantec's
directions on restoring my registry, but when I attempt
to edit my registry I get an error message that
says "Registry editing has been disabled by your
administrator". How do I turn the registry editing back
on so I can fix my computer?

Thanks,
Seth

Seth : Have you tried running Registry Editor from
Start|Run|regedit or
Start|Run|Cmd.exe|regedit.exe
or download script to repair registry editor from kellys-korner tweaks2
select Repair the Registry Editor and download reg file that allows you to
restore regedit.
If no luck, you can import the specified key from another computer, maybe
that will help.
if no result go to dougknox.com for posible solution to your particular
problem.

The UNDO.REG tool will reverse the changes made by the
virus and allow the user to execute REGEDIT.EXE as normal.
