just build new pc when i go to install xp it goes all the
way through the formating process the goes to create the
list of files to install the it restarts i cant get any
further

WIndows setup automatically restarts after formatting and
loading some setup files. If you have the BIOS set to
boot from the cd drive (assuming that's how you got to
windows setup), you need to switch the primary boot
device to be the hard drive with the windows partition on
it. Then when it reboots it will continue installation,
instead of doing it over again.

if i dont boot from the cd i get a message saying ntldr
is missing have tried new bios and different HD nothing
is working

You need to catch it after it's formatted and copied the
files. When it reboots, pull up the BIOS and switch the
boot sequence. You need it to boot from the CD the first
time, but from the HD when it reboots.

If you do this and it doesn't jive, I'd say you probably
have an issue with your hard drive.
