My current 8GB C: is full and I would like to move the
entire contents of this drive to my 20GB D: partition of
my 2nd drive and then boot from this without losing any
information from my E: partition.

Is this possible from Windows XP, or do I need to resort
to a 3rd party solution?

Thanks in advance,

Graham

If your c: and d: drives are simply partitions on one physical drive,
probably the best and easiest route is using Partition Magic or something
similar to resize both partitions. It does resizing non-destructively. If
you don't have Partition Magic it could prove difficult.

Paul,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately C: and D: are
separate drives, so what I am trying to do is copy the
contents of my C: to the D: partition of my second drive
without losing the information on the E: partition of my
second drive.

Thanks,

Graham,

it is not possible at all, unless you go through complicated and
risky procedures, because Windows XP, once installed on drive
letter C:, cannot work on any other drive letter.

My recommendation would be to get a bigger disk drive, move the
entire installation, i.e. the entire partition, to the new
drive, then expand the partition.

You still need a third party program for that, like Bootit NG or
Partition Magic.
