Hi,
Can anyone help please.
I get the following error message when trying to click on an email link from
WEB pages.
"could not perform this option because default mail client is not properly
installed"
Thanks

In XP, you have to be using an installed email program, which is set to be
the computer's default email program to be able to do what you want at a web
page.

Outlook, Outlook Expess, etc will do it if set as default program.

Thanks Mick,
However I have Outlook installed and have it set as the default mail, but I
still get this message

My access is set as use current email program, I do not get to chosse OL only

However I have Outlook installed and have it set as the default mail,
I'm not a mind reader. <w> Your reply above suggested that you wanted
Outlook (OL) to be your default Mail Client. If you want it to be Outlook
/Express/ (OE)...

1. http://www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx; then...

2a. http://www.oehelp.com/oelnk.aspx

2b. (WinXP) [Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs] Set Program Access and
Defaults | Email | Select OE here!

If still no joy, see:

SendTo and E-mail Links Do Not Work Using Outlook Express as Default

=======================

Now that you've got it fixed, please read:

Microsoft Outlook updates change the default mail handler to Microsoft
Outlook
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#13

Every time you install an OL update (e.g., the monthly Junk Mail Filter
update), you're going to run into this problem as long as you (1) have OL
installed as part of MS Office and (2) install OL updates.

If you don't use OL (or Calendar, etc.), Remove it from your install of
Office via Add/Remove Programs | Change | ... (Tip: Have your Office CD
handy)
