If you've changed internet providers, or perhaps even if you haven't, you
need to ask your new provider for instructions for setting up to use their
email servers. If they haven't written instructions for Windows Mail yet,
use their instructions for Outlook Express, as long as they don't call for
the HTTP protocol. The instructions should be somewhere on their web
site. Or, you could tell us who your internet provider is and see if anyone
here already knows where to find the instructions.
In the meantime, you might as well do a few things to prepare. Under
Internet Explorer, click on Tools, then Internet Options, then
Connections. If there's no dot in the circle before Never dial a
connection, click on this circle, then Apply. Click on OK.
In Windows Mail, click on Tools, then Options, then Connection.
If there is no check mark in the box before Ask before switching
dial-up connections, click on this box and then Apply. If there is
a check mark in the box before Hang up after sending and
receiving, click on this box and then Apply. Click on OK.
