help with Client side MS word

i have an asp.net application that works great

but i now need to create a word document and open it on the client side, so
that users can complete the missing data

ive looked into this and cannot find any tutorials that explain how to open
a word document client side (i managed to get it to open server side but
that is not what i want)

any help would be greatly appreciated

You cant use ASP.NET to do this, you can likely do some work with it via
vbscript once its delivered to the client but it will be very restricted.

Basically, once you have sent them the results of a query, in this case a
word doc, then the transaction with your web server is completed. If you
stream them a doc from server side then the client will open it if it knows
what to do with that document type, most browsers know what to do with a
word doc - but its no longer connected to your server in any way. Your
users would have to upload the doc to the server again with the changes
saved client side before you could work on it again.
