Help with Back ups

Can anyone help at all. I have been using CDR and CDRW to back up all my files but end up using loads. I purchased some blank DVD's to see if I could back up onto them. I am using Nero6 and just a CD Writer. Is it possible as when I try it just says no disk in drive. Any help would be appreciated
 
if your using DVD's in a normal CD-RW i dont think that will work but then again i might be wrong
 
No someone on another forum has told me you need a DVD writer. Oh well bang goes that idea. Or 40 to 50 quid to buy one. Thanks anyway
 
you can get about 5 blank CD's for the price of a DVD so it would work out roughly the same cost wise...

...did you try zipping up your files with winrar or winzip? that may help
 
Yeah I use Winrar but it doesn't compress the files that much really. Especially when its larger files. Also I have some folders over 700MB and was hoping to fit all on one disk rather then having to split it to 2.
 
Thanks but not sure i can afford that at the mo. Guess I will have to keep plugging away with the CDRW's for now.
