In order to use my computer iv had to disable the core services for windows
update, Auto-update and Event log , everytime i re-enable these to try and
get an update, I get a BSoD.
(also whenever i try to update to IE7 i also get a BSoD)
Can anyone shine some light as to what the problem could be and how to fix it.
(Home SP2 if you needed to know)

Well, firstly, don't try to install IE7 if

a) it isn't on a 'test' machine you don't care about or use on a
regular basis, and
b) your system isn't working right in the first place.

Secondly, what is the text of the BSOD? Just the first part of the first
line....it ought to tell you something. If it always reboots immediately
when you get the BSOD, go to control panel, system, advanced, startup &
recovery, and untick "automatically restart".

Can you start the event viewer service in Safe Mode (boot up & press F8
repeatedly til you get the menu) and then see what's in your event logs?
Have you run any good antivirus, antispyware/malware tools on your machine?
The fact that you can't get your event viewer to start makes me suspect
you've got something unwanted in there. Check out Malke Routh's website for
