Jim

I downloaded the SP-1 Service pack and my computer was 16
minutes from completing the installation when a server
error occurred.

Now when I go to Windows Update and click download of the
service pack, the dialog box immediately shows a complete
download, but, nothing happens to install it.

Could anyone help please.

Thanks, Jim

Download the Network (standalone) version of SP1. It's a
full installation and will be a bigger dowload but it
gives you all the available files.

Hi, Rifleman.

I can't answer for Gary, but I occasionally use CDO, just to see if it has
improved any from the last time I tried it. It has, but not nearly enough.
Within a few minutes, I'm completely frustrated by its interface, its speed
(or lack thereof), its counter-intuitiveness... So I go back to good ole
OE6. The Help files there are good, but nobody ever reads them, it seems.
:>(

I have noticed that MS recently added links that give the user a choice
between the Web-based reader and "Open with newsreader" - which brings me
right back here to OE. ;<) I just wish more users would choose the
newsreader.

But, it's good to visit the Communities now and then just to see what so
many of our posters - especially the newbies - are seeing this week.

A silly question - why is an MVP using CDO web access for these groups?

Good question!

I use the web-based during the day at work since the proxy server does
not allow me to use a newsreader.

I am now using Agent here at home.

:)

Hope this helps!

That's the main reason experienced "usenetties" use it. It's just a
shame that MS gives a link to CDO on top, rather than the OE link being
first, so that newbies don't even realise they can view the same
information in OE!
