Help! Why do I have to reinstall software every time I want to use it?

For some odd reason, certain software (various games and some audio software) will not work a second time after installing it. Anybody experienced this sort of thing before? If I want to use certain software I need to reinstall it each time. This is driving me crazy! Is this a hardware issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

The software in question is

Lineage II (game
Knights of the Old Republic (game
Cool Edit Pro (audio software)
 
Some appl that have been downloaded can only be installed once - unless you register and pay
 
I get the same thing when I installed TweekUI as powertoys for XP what I
did was like you. Install, play and the shortcut is then invalid the next
time I try using it. I reinstalled a second time, and it stayed.

Maybe You could manualy alter the target location for the icon.
