Hi,
I have a XP windows installed on one of my machine. And I also have a
crappy route to connect 3 machines together. Under some certain condition
(don't know yet), the router stops working, I have to unplug power of the
router to reset it. After reset the router, the other 2 machines will be
back online immediately. But not this machine. All the IP setting are
pre-set, which means they are not drom DHCP (same setting as one of other
machine). Adter I reset router, this machine cannot ping to anther other
machine in this LAN, not the gateway, even not 127.0.0.1. It just reports
"destination host unreachable" error. I have to reboot this PC, then it
works fine, after another couple of hours, I reset router, I have to repeat
this once more.
My question is, why external netwrok failure will cause this machine's
TCP/IP crashes? Why even it cannot ping to 127.0.0.1? Both my other two
machines are just fine.
Regards
