I have a new Dell computer, but I have an old HP printer. I do not have the
printer disk. Is there any way I can download the information I need to
install the printer to my new computer?

thanks!

If it is an old HP printer, then the printer driver file
should on on the Windows XP installation cdrom. Not even
HP will have a downloadable, updated file if the printer
(or its family) has gone out of production. What HP printer
is it?

This is a WinXP newsgroup, so I assume you are now using WinXP. In that
case, the old HP software won't even install, let alone work correctly.

Using the drivers inherent in WinXP means that you lose some very useful
functionality that HP software used to provide. See my
<http://www.rossde.com/good_n_bad.html#HP>. It appears that HP's
commitment to customer service is not as durable as the hardware they
manufacture.

Someone pointed out to me that the real fault lies with Micro$oft for
building WinXP without the ability to run software that ran okay with
Win95 and Win98.
