help & support no longer available

I have recently installed SP2 and I am on auto-updates.
Suddenly when I go to Start/help nothing happens. Also in windows explorer
going to help shows nothing. I tried reinstalling SP2 to no avail. I then
tried the original WindowsXPSP1 CD but it came up with a message
"Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is
newer than the version on the CD"
I am stuck I cannot access "Help and Support" in Windows at all.
Pleas can anybody assist me.

Start Menu/Help and Support doesn't work:
Click Start then select Run and type in: helpctr -regserver

Why doesn't Help and Support work?
