help somethings wrong with I explorer

something's wrong with I explorer, when I click on a link like the one
below my explorer opens a view of my C:\ drive.

links that end with common things like .htm or com work fine.

I suspect that the easiest way to fix this would be to
reinstall/upgrade/repair Internet Explorer.

If you want to attempt to fix this manually, I suspect the problem is in the
registry under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http.
