HELP! Something's screwed up in XP registry!

Aaight, here's my proble

All my fault. I installed TweakXP (from TotalIdea) on my GF's puter (AXP 1500+, 512Megs of ram), used some tweaks and forgot about it. Since then we've noticed some performance degradations, especially one: when opening a folder with pictures inside, it'll take ages to load the correct icon of the picture-file (I'm viewing in detail-view)... like about 1-1.5 secs per file. In other words, it shows the standard windows icon in front of the file, and only veeery slowly switches to the actual "picture"-icon... hence slowing down everything (i.e. can't move/work with the files until they've all switched to the correct icon, can't move, can't delete anything 'cause XP says the files are still in use)

I tried to uncheck the so-called optimizations in TweakXP but to no avail. I wonder what that sh*tty prog has done in the background

If anyone of you knows what I can change directly in the registry, please let me know 'cause it'd be a helluva hassle to reinstall windows on that puter
 
Hi

If there is no 'undo' option in TweakXP, try a System Restore back to a
point before you installed that program. It's no good trying to manually
edit the Registry if you don't know *exactly* what TweakXP changed. Even if
you could remember it would nearly impossible to alter the Registry.

From TweakXP Help:

"Tweak-XP™ Professional v3 includes and automatic uninstaller to
remove the software from your system. Uninstalling the software does
not re-set the tweaks which have been enabled through Tweak-XP. In
order to re-set all tweaks, please use set your system back to the
system restore point which has been created by Tweak-XP™ on the very
first start of the software. Details regarding the system restore
feature and the registry backup can be found in the specific sections
of this helpfile."

It appears that when you first start TweakXP, a restore point is
created automatically, before any changes to the system occur.

You could try restoring to that point, it should be labeled as created
by TweakXP.

Ok... The problem with going back to the restore point is that this was mad a looong time ago... I installed a couple of apps in the meantime... hence, system restore not being an option anymore

But I did solve my problem :-
I suspected TweakXP... my bad (again). It was Photoshop. There's actually a setting that hides itself in the picture properties called view (or was it load) thumbnails. Even if I viewed the files in detailed mode (i.e. not showing thumbnails but simple icons), the thumbnails were loaded in the background, hence taking an awful lot more time than it should. Crazy stuff... Found it out totally by luck
