Hello Everyone!

I apologize if I posted this in the wrong forum; I posted it in the Office
Help Boards and here as well, as I was not sure what was causing the error -
Windows XP or Microsoft Office 2003.

My problem is as follows:

Every single time I close Microsoft Outlook 2003, I receive the identical
error listed below:

-----------------------
OUTLOOK.EXE - Application Error

The instruction at "0x7c911e58" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The
memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program

[OK]
-----------------------

It is the same message EVERY TIME; the numbers do not change.

Does anyone have any clue as to how to fix this?

My system is a brand new Dell Inspiron E1705 with 120 GB HDD and 2 GB of RAM.

I have very little software installed and do not know what could be causing
this "memory could not be read" error.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sincerely,

William

Go to Start/Run and type: eventvwr.msc and click OK. In the left menu, select Applications and look for any X error messages associated with Outlook. Double click the error message to see the details. Click the Copy Icon o0n the right side of the details screen and paste the results in a reply here.

These are the two I could find. I hope they help.

There is no clear definition of an application hanging. Typically the application is "busy" with some processing task when the user exits. However from a user's perspective, the application may appear to be idle.

Here is more information I found on this particular behavior.

*It appears that some 3rd party toolbars added to Office or Internet Explorer can cause this problem.

*This behavior has been determined to be the result of having the speech and handwriting recognition features of Office 2003 enabled. You might try disabling these features and test the result.

How to turn off the speech recognition and the handwriting recognition features in Office 2003:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823586

*Try performing a Detect and Repair of MSOffice 2003. To do this, open Outlook and select Help/Detect and Repair from the menu. (You may need the installation media when you run this).

Post back to this thread with the results.
