Hi..

How would one rename an identity??? Using Outlook 2000, Workgroup, and WinXP
Home.....

One is used for regular pop3 email, the one I want to rename connects to the
office... One is named Vin Home, Id' like to label the other identity Vin
Office... thanks!

There are no identities in Outlook - they're called profiles. You can't
rename them (annoying, isn't it?) You'd need to create new ones (not a copy
from another profile) entirely.

You mean mail profile? (identities is from OE)

You can't rename the profiles. You can however copy a profile so you can
specify a name and delete the old one.

You can change this in Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles...

Yes. that's what I meant, profiles!

Guess I'm having an identity crisis as well!! Thanks, so I CAN copy one to
another? Or cannot? Lemme go back and re-read Lanwench's reply as well, or
am I misunderstanding something...

Thanks!!

Outlook has no construct call "identity". Perhaps you mean "account".

Tools>Services. Find your account and select it. Click "Properties" (or
"Change", I forget which). You should be able to change the account name
there.

I'm not sure what Lanwench is refering to but a copy does work.

If you copy a profile to another new one, and delete the old profile, you'll
have problems in the new profile & likely have to redefine the items
therein. I don't know whether this is still the case in OL2003, but I've
seen it be a problem in every prior version.

Alright, thanks!

Thanks All.. took a shot. made a copy with a new name, then deleted the
original and all works fine..

Maybe I lucked out??? Then again, we lucked out when being told Cisco's VPN
client usually doesn't work with XPHome- 98, yes, XP Pro, yes...

All's working fine - and- with more sensible labels.. thanks again!
