Hi, I have just been looking in the registry with Regedit and came across a
folder, for want of a better word, called Domains. this contains a lot, 100
plus of sub folders of domain names, some I have never heard of and some
unpleasant ones as well. I would prefer these not to be in the registry. can
they be deleted without trouble.

EXPORT them first. Then, if problems arise, MERGE them back into the
registry.
Chances are, you won't have to.

Are you using something like SpywareBlaster?

SpywareBlaster places a lot of items in the Restricted Sites Zone.

Is this the key???
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\ZoneMap\Domains

Restricted Sites Zone
This zone contains Web sites that you do not trust.

If they have a Value Data of 4 they are in the Restricted Sites Zone.

Example >>>

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\008i.com
Value Name: *
Value Type: REG_DWORD
Value Data: 4 (Hexadecimal)

This is the list of Restricted Sites from >>>

IE | Tools | Internet Options | Security tab | Restricted Sites |
Sites button | Web sites | *.008i.com

Using the asterisk * as a wild card (represents any other character) in
front of .008i.com includes all the domains in .008i.com.

If they have a Value Data of 2 they are in the Trusted sites Zone, then you
have a problem.

Hi,
You are quite correct.

Settings\ZoneMap\Domains

Hit the nail on the head there, I will leave alone.
Thanks for your help and time
Michael
