Suspect power failure during XP prof defrag.
Using SIIG ATA/133 PCI card for two hard disks.FAT32 on all.

Cannot start XP normally or safe. Error messages

NTLDR is missing (but I then copied it to C:\
and missing or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system (which I cannot find)

Do have system.old which is 8MB. I cannot figure how to fix.

Used XP original disk and in setup selected "S" to load SIIG ATA/133
drivers then selected repair but still get missing or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system even if I select last known good startup

Help gratefully received!

Power failure confimed as cause of problem. I just cannot recover.
Seems to be a boot sector failure and I am concerned that because I use
Partition Magic I will not be able to recover data files.

Any solution?
