I have a network with 3 PC's with XP PRO configured as a
workgroup. We would like to share certain directories
using Access Control Lists. For testing purposes, I shared
each directory with simple file sharing and opening it to
Everyone and it worked fine. I could view and open all
directories from every machine.
Then, I turned off simple file sharing, configured
specific users to have access to each directory and
retested. The directory was visible but gave me an error
each time I tried to open it from a remote machine.
At this point, I have:
1) doublechecked that each user needing remote access to a
directory has their user account (username/password)
mirrored on the remote machine
2) Reviewed the article on Practically Networked regarding
file sharing and I am doing everything they are
recommending to no avail
Any other suggestions or ideas would really be appreciated!
