I'm hoping someone can offer advice on problems that I'm experiencing with
Outlook 2003 toolbar buttons.

Toolbar buttons usually work fine when I first open Outlook, but after I use
a particular button once, it no longer works. For example, I can create a
task, then assign the task. the next time I create a task, the assign
button no longer works. I have to re-boot outlook to get the button to work
again - then it only works once, etc, etc.

This is also true of many other (but not all ) Outlook buttons, like "Save
and Close", "Recurrence", and others. One more thing, the menu command
equivalents of the buttons exhibit the same behaviour.

Running clean install of Office OL 2003 on fresh build of Win XP Pro, all OS
and Office Service packs and updates installed.

Please help, it's driving me crazy! Thanks.

Try closing Outlook and then rename outcmd.dat to .old. This file controls
how toolbars are displayed - it sounds like you have a corrupt outcmd.dat
file. If this does not fix it, please post back.

Hi Milly:

Thanks for the quick response.

I've had, in fact, already tired re-naming the outcmd.dat file. It didn't
fix the problem. Still scratching my head (and sometimes banging it too!).
