I was doing some cleaning up (anti virus deletions) and
somehow screwed up my home PC (XP, 400MHz, 192 RAM). The
primary problem is that I deleted an adaptor (this
according to Tech support at SBC) used in creating a new
network connection: using the Wizard, I chose to manually
set up a connection. The next menu will not allow me to
choose neither 'Connect using a broadband connection that
requires a user name/password' nor the dial up modem
option.

I need help in getting the adaptor in question. I have
my laptop connected to the web. Do you think I can
download the adaptor/drivers onto a floppy and get the
info to the PC that way? Any suggestions would be
appreciated. I am trying to avoid reinstalling XP!

TIA, Miles

It is hard to tell just what all you may have done here.

This article will probably restore your DSL connection:

Be careful though, you may have removed important
XP critical updates including the one that patches the
vulnerability exploited by msblaster and its variants.
BEFORE you connect to the Internet again, make sure
that the XP ICF is enabled on your DSL connection or
that any installed third-party firewall is functioning and then
AFTER you connect to the Internet, go to the Windows
Update site and Scan for Updates and download and install
any XP critical updates. (Temporarily disable your Anti Virus
before installing any of those updates)
