Hello.

I have Outlook Express 5. Whenever I get attachments and
I double-click on them, I would like the program to ask
me if I would like to Open or Save it. I somehow clicked
on Don't ever ask me again. So now any Word documents I
get and I double-click on them it automatically opens
it. How can I tell Outlook Express to pop up the
Attachment Warning (Open it or Save it)dialog box for
Word Documents as well?

First, I don't use Outlook Express... so though I can't offer a
specific solution I can tell you that you should RIGHT click on the
attachment instead of double clicking.

BTW, use the right click elsewhere and you'll be surprised at the
features that you encounter.

Yes I know that you can right-click, but this is for my
boss you is used to double-clicking on attachments and
having the option given to her.

So any ideas where I can reset that Word documents should
also be checked before opening?

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97-2003 from the Office
family for Windows PCs. For Outlook Express (OE) support try posting in one
of
these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie4.outlookexpress for OE 4.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...blic.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress
for OE 5.5x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ublic.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
for OE 6.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...;newsgroupsmicrosoft.public.internet.mail.mac
for the Macintosh version of OE
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ess.mac&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup
references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to
post but it works for some people)

Also a good source of Outlook Express info can be found here:

Yeow... right clicking gives the same options, just in a different
way. And it is actually a better procedure to follow because you
ALWAYS get the menu choices. Tell your boss how to do it the "right"
way (no pun intended).

That dialog box that pops up when double left click a file is the same
dialog that you get when, for example, you try to download a file
from a web page.

But here's the thing... when using Outlook XP, when I send myself an
image and then left double click the attached image, it simply opens.

If however, other people send me an image and I left double click then
I get the dialog box you're talking about.

So, my guess... if the file is already on your boss's computer, then
double clicking simply OPENS it (because it is already saved).

Your boss reminds me of one I had... back with Win3.1 he kept loosing
his programs. They disappeared from the screen and he did not know
why. The idiot did not know he'd minimized them and they were UNDER
the Program Manager.

If Windows XP O.S., Open Windows Explorer, click Tools,
Folder Options, File Types, find and select the extension
of the file you want to "confirm open after download",
click Advanced and check the box next to "confirm open
oafter download".

Didn't read your full post, so hope this is what your
looking for.
