Ok here's my problem. I recently decided to get Xp home (OEM) and decided to format my hardrive before installing. I did so in Dos mode. I rebooted my computer (being sure to change the boot sequence in the bios). Now when I boot up from cd one of 2 things happen. Either my computer reboots after I hear the cd autorunning, or I get a dark grey screen and nothing else. If I don't hit any key when it tells me to I just get a message saying no operating system. I can't get the cd to autorun from this stage either by opening and closing my cd rom drive. I've downloaded a couple of bootdisks but none have helped, or will give me a command prompt after loading. I know my cd rom is working properly. I see it being recognised on my first boot up screen. My cd also says it has the Service pack 1a included. My computer is not a name brand and was built from scratch from a friend. Any suggestions?
