how do i get this background off this?? im very new...

It looks to me as if you are using Outlook Express, not Outlook. There is a
newsgroup for OE, this one is for Outlook.

However, seing as you're here ;)

In OE go to tools>options>compose tab, and unselect the stationary about
half way down, or choose one you do like.
