I have 3 256meg Ram chips , they all work, and I have 3 slots, which all
work, tested them all.
I had 512Meg and got another chip at 256Meg, I added it ...
BUT my computer only sees 512m of Ram , reguardless of what order I put
the Ram chips in..
Why can't my computer see the extra 256m of ram??
I am using windows XP home
Please help
thank you

How much RAM does your motherboard support?
Visit www.crucial.com and use the RAM configuration
tool to find out.

Identify your mobo and get the manual. See what it says
about memory supported, also BIOS updates. If you don't
know the actual mobo, get EVEREST HOME from www.lavalys.com

It will scan and report the data you need and also has links
to BIOS updates which might be needed to support more RAM.

1. Some MBs are picky about the order of RAM sticks with mixed sizes.
If each RAM works, try them in various orders (of slot placement).

2. With multiple RAM sticks, the sticks must be compatable with each
other and with the MB. Check the timing specs on each RAM.

3. Your MB may not handle more than 512MB. Or, your MB may not handle
individual RAMs bigger than 256MB, and treats the 512MB stick as
another 256. RTFM, where M=MB M.
