If anyone could help me I would appreciate it, I am
running XP pro and outlook 2003.

Four days ago i accidentally attached the wroog wile to
an email. Unfortunately it was a 69mb file and I sent it
immediately. Now 4 days later outlook is hung up sending
it. I have tried delteing it but it says it can't delete
it because it is already partially sent, it is the same
if I am offline or online. If I close outlook it
continues to try and send this email bogging down my
computer badly unless I shut it down in task manager. I
tried to let it run its course by leaving outlook open
trying to send this email for almost 30 hours with no
resolution.

If anyone has an idea as to why this is happening and how
to fix it short of removing and reloading outlook I would
be grateful. If I need to reload outlook then I will as
a last resort. thanks, AZmog

Set outlook into offline mode (File menu) and close. Verify outlook is
closed in task manager (or use knockout -
http://www.sunflowerhead.com/software/knockout) Reopen Outlook and delete
the message.

if this fails, add a new pst - file, new, outlook data store - and set it as
the default message store in tools, email accounts. Close outlook, reopen
and delete the item from the outbox in the old message store. Repeat the
steps to change the default store back to the old one and close outlook.
Reopen, move any messages downloaded to the new message store and right
click on it and choose close.

ok I will give that a try, I hope the instructions were
specific as I have no clue what you are talking about
with .pst or outlook data store. I don't really have
much of a clue which is evidenced by my sending a 69mb
file :)

Ok I tried that but it wouldn't let me delete the file
still. Now either I am not doing it right or something
else is wrong. I tried dragging it to another folder but
it said it couledn't because it had already begun
transmitting the email.

Outlook isn't offline if it's trying to send it - go into tools, mail setup,
Send and receive groups and disable the option to send every xx minutes. In
fact, remove all the checks from the send options for now - just remember
which ones you unchecked. :) Edit the All Accounts group to remove the check
from the 'include in send and receive option at the top of the page for the
affected account. Verify on the File menu that outlook is checked for Work
Offline

Close Outlook. Look in Task manager to insure outlook.exe is closed.
(control+alt+del, select task manager). Reopen Outlook - can you delete it?

If not:
1) go to file menu, New, outlook data store and add a new pst.
2) Then go to tools, email accounts, change existing email accounts... at
the bottom of the main page is a dropdown box to select the default outlook
store.
3) Select the pst you added using the file menu and close outlook after
exiting out of this dialog.
4) Verify in Task Manger that it's closed and reopen.
5) Now delete the bad file from the outbox.

Repeat step 2 to set the old pst to the default and open Outlook.
