To all,
Some recent update to the system appears to have introduced some change
in the handling of this functionion in the task bar as it was working.
I had a number of icons set to "hide when unused", but now they just
stay to the right of the chevron. I have set them all to "Always hide"
which has the same relative net effect, but don't understand why they
don't disappear as they used to. Is there a registry setting that
indicates the amount of time allocated before the task bar moves them
back under the chevron (lower righ corner)? I've tried resetting to
defaults, rebooting, some on, some off, etc. Just seems to not like the
current set up now. Thanks in advance...

Nicholas,
I saw this reply to a post earlier and checked out that entire page.
My chevron is there, it is just that once an item that is "under" the
chevron is selected, it doesn't go back to being hidden after a period
of time, even though the "hide when inactive" option is chosen. Once an
item comes out after being selected, it doesn't hide anymore. The
chevron is still there, it is just the icon is now to the right of it.
It is almost like the characteristic of the icon is acting like one
whose option is "never hide".

Hey. I first changed only the first icon to always hide
which brought back the chevron. Then I changed it back
to "hide when inactive." The chevron disappeared again,
but when I checked on it about 10 minutes later it came
back and as of now, appears to be working normally. I
don't know if what I did had any effect though. It does
look ok now though.

Kelly,
So to one of my questions. Is that "timer" a setting somewhere in the
registry? Mine just don't seem to hide anymore, no matter how long I
wait.
