Help Please - Counting filtered information

Please post response as email is bogus to prevent spam.

I am using Excel 2003.

I am filtering information and want to count the number of instances
(rows) returned by the filtering.

Example: If I have 1597 rows of info and my filter returns 263 rows of
info I tried using Count and CountA functions, but both give me a
total of 1597. I want the total to show 263, or what ever the filter
returns.
