Help - Outline Numbering!

I've been creating a lengthy document that is formatted by a basic Outline
Numbered field, and suddenly, about 40 pages in, the numbering no longer
automatically continues when I hit return. The only way I get a number to
appear on the next line is if I go one space to the left in the previous line
or paragraph, and then hit enter. Then I will have to go back and replace
whatever the last character was. Please help me finish my document!!

Assuming that the numbering has been linked to a paragraph style, you need
to change the "Style for following paragraph" setting (in the Modify Style
dialog box).

What should that paragraph style be in order to ensure numbering continues
when I hit enter?

It should be the same style. List Number following List Number, for example.
