Hello,
At my friend, 2 XP pc's where able to exchange files via LAN.
Since 3 weeks this no longer works.
Ping local LAN-IP is ok.
Ping pc-name or 'Net View' causes
'System error 6118 has occurred. The list of servers for this workgroup
is
not currently available.'
Odd is, in ***SAFE MODE*** 'Net View' works fine !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Friend has Ad-aware and Norton Internet Security installed.
Following actions did NOT solve the issue:
- All WinXP updates installed
- NIC deleted and re-installed at Device Mgr
- NIC driver Repair
- Ipconfig Release and Renew
- Scanned for virus / worm or spyware.
- Enabled, then Disabled Firewall
- Manually opened TCP & UDP ports 135...139
- Stopped & Restarted Services:
- 'Computer Browser'
- 'Server'
- 'Workstation'
Could this be caused by a recent WinXP update,
Ad-aware or Norton Internet Security ?
We are getting quite desperate.
Who can help?
