Help needed, re key shortcut

I am new to Windows, so please spare me... :-)
My question: Is there an easy way to define some custom key sequence
which puts me to the Desktop ? Like the "Show Desktop" thing, but
quicker :-). Thanks for any tip...

Thanks again, JAX. However, I forget to mention I don't have a Windows
key as I am using an LK keyboard ( old DEC type. ) But what I have found
is that I can assign key sequences to shortcuts already on the desktop
and start them that way. Thanks.
