Hi Everyone,
I hope some tech savvy people can help me with a problem. I have a
Dell XPS that is about a year old. It is super fast and all has been
good, until two weeks ago when it all of a sudden came to a halt. I
mean, it takes FOREVER after I click on desktop icon for a program to
open. This has never happened before.

Here is what I have done so far (all updated versions):

Ran Spybot Search and Destroy and clean
Ran Ad-Aware SE Pro and clean
Ran CCcleaner
Ran Windows Defender and clean
Ran McAfee Virus scan and clean
Ran CWshredder and clean

Now, at the time this happened I got a pop-up saying that my McAfee
needed to be updated. So it gave me an entirely new Security Center.
I have never had a problem with McAfee and was wondering if on the off
chance, it could be that "update" from them that is causing my
computer to run like this.

Oh and not sure if this matters, but it's worse at night. Honestly.
I know that sounds weird.

Thanks a lot in advance for any help.

Run System Restore to return the machine to the condition
it was in just over two weeks ago.

Before I do this, aside from the McAfee, what other items, documents,
ect will be effected?

System restore will not effect your documents/data. Dunno about
McAfee.

OK, I will try the restore.
Thanks

Well, it's definitely the new version of McAfee. I also had 59
processes running and to me, that is a lot, but I could be wrong. I
don't want to kill any of them because I don't know what they do and
wouldn't want to mess up my computer.

Anyway, guess I will try to figure this all out.

Thanks again for all the tips.

59 is by no means an unusual number, nor any indication of a problem.

Good plan! Leave them alone, unless you *know* of something you don't need.
