Hello...
Added E drive to backup some files after my wife's PC started acting flaky.
A few days later, system would not boot - hung at windows blue intro screen.
Could not get safe mode to boot, PM8 rescue diagnose says "partition
improperly dismounted"
FInally gave up and did XP repair from the Install disk. Install replaced
many files - looks like disk took hit.
WinXP did finally come back, but I notice my new E drive is now C!!
and my old C drive is now E!!
So now many programs will not work because they are pointed to the C drive.
Do I have any recourse??
Should definitely NOT have had that E drive in when I did a repair I guess,
but how was I to know.
The "repair' process never asked me a single question.
Thanks for any help!
John

You spend your whole life figuring out what you should have done with it,
let alone what it was all about. And then your children get to do it all
over again.

How did you do the Repair Install?
Sounds more like you did a "Reinstall" which will replace the Files and
Settings folder and everything in the folder is lost.
You will need to reinstall all your applications, so I would suggest
starting over with the new hard drive disconnected. You can connect the new
drive after setup is complete and delete the Windows, Files and Settings,
Program Files and any root files if present on the new drive.
