help--Missing Calc, games, wordpad

I see that lots of people have written in about the calc missing but I am missing more than that
My games are missing, wordpad is missing(and doesn't even appear to be on my computer) and my calc shortcut is gone but the program is still there. I don't even know what to look for withthe games

Can someone please help me fix this lol and possible explain why this has happened to so many people? I really just want my 98 back....least I knew what I was doing on that lol....I am XP los

If it hasn't been installed - go to Add/Remove - select
Windows Components and then check the applications you
want.

If they are installed - then Go to Start, Run and type in
sfc /scannow
This will replace any missing/corrupt files.
Make sure you have your windows XP CD in the drive before
issuing the command.

As to why it happened, who knows???????
