"If you are using Access 97 there is a Record Database as
part of the samples included."
As a testimonial, I began with that Access 97 template and
have gradually added features and functions and continue
enjoying it all.
It provides Switchboards for directing you around. The
main form displays album information showing artist name,
group and album info, such as year recorded, recording
label and serial, number of tracks and calculated album
length (sum of tracks' times). I include a bmp of the
album cover. I have added a rating field (1 thru 5), my
comments and album reviews and various dates -- entered,
last heard, last updated, last backedup.
It uses a subform for track info: number, title, length,
composer, arranger, "disk name" (since external song names
are not always the same as internal recorded names --
surprised at how many errors there are), comments and
track rating.
I have added pictures and biographies of artists, album
cover pictures and reviews from AllMusic.com which
thankfully is free and uptodate. I have setup Media Player
2 for playing individual tracks. It starts the music
within 2 seconds. I use WMP 9 to play albums or other more
complicated playlists.
Today I have over 1000 jazz albums in the system, an equal
number of album covers and 350 artist portraits. I have
recorded 12,000 tracks of music. It uses some 49gb disk.
Some good, some old, some borrowed and some blue! (That
was too easy!)
I believe it is a good place to start too.
