help me, my media player will not work

until today my windows media player has worked fine and i have over 400 music files on it, which i reealllllly cannot lose but when i click on the media player icon the message i get reads 'an internal application error has occurred'
what does this mean?
what should i do?

Try another player, like RealPlayer 10 or Quintessential Player.
