Help me kill a Toolbar

Hi,

I have recently 'upgraded' to MS Outlook 2003, which means I have more inane features that I never ever use, and my day-to-day performance is seriously degraded despite running on a brand new state-of-art computer...

My question: I want to eliminate a couple of toolbars from MS Outlook, namely the Business Contact Manager and the Norton Anti-spam toolbars. I go into Tools>Customize etc and do the obvious, unchecking the toolbars, and they disappear as you would expect. But, everytime I restart Outlook, they are back, visible and in the default configuration (ie stacked). No matter what I do, move them, remove them, delete them, uncheck them, curse at them, they return.

Please help me!

Joe

With Outlook closed search and either rename/delete a file called
outcmd.dat, this file holds menu and toolbar customisation and will get
rebuilt to default when you start Outlook, note this is a hidden file!

Thanks for trying, but didn't solve it. It did recreate that file but it still doesn't register any changes I make once I restart (and then close and restart) Outlook.

Thanks!

Joe

As you don't use Business Contact Manager then it can be removed from
Add/Remove programs you can also disable from starting in the registry by
changing the value of this key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Microsoft.Busine
ssSolutions.eCRM.OutlookAddIn.Connect.1, the key is "LoadBehavior"
unfortunately I am having a brain dead session and I cannot remember the
value (I thinks it 0 or 1, will check my notes), with the Norton's toolbar
can you disable either through Norton's itself or is it listed as an Add-in
here Tools > Options > Other > Advanced Options > Add In Manager.

Seems I have the same sort of problem - various programs like Groove and PDFCreater seem to have decided I need direct support in Outlook and have installed ToolBars - I too have tried the obvious route of unticking the add-ins but they always come back again.

I looked for the Outcmd.dat file but didnt find one on a search. Cant find any 'options' in either Grrove or PDFCreator to turn off these 'features' ...

Any help greatley appreciated

Turn on searching hidden/system files.

It is already switched on ... or at least it is in the options for Explorer and therefore sees all files

I can find other hidden files OK ... but not coutcmd.dat
