help me fix these errors

Winlogon.exe - entry point not found. The procedure entry point AssocIsDangerous could not be located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll.

User Interface Failure. The logon User Interface DLL msgina.dll failed to load. COntact your system administrator to replace the DLL, or restore the original DLL.

everything i've looked up for help points to doing a "in place upgrade" but when i try to get to the repair install, the only option i have is to "restore windows" and that will format my hard drive.

I'm a composer, and all my music and software is on there, and i've never had a problem till now, and i really don't want to format my HD unless there is NO OTHER CHOICE. someone please help me!

Do you have an original XP CD?
Or just a special one from, say, Dell?

Also,
may I suggest you do a backup of all your work ASAP, and get in the habit of
doing it regularly.

Imagine your hard drive failed tomorrow - how much would you lose? :-)

Try using System Restore if you have any restore points. Go back to a time
before this happened.
