Joe

I recently had to reformat my HD, and reinstall xp pro.
Today installing a program I had a Microsoft popup that
told me a "newer version of xp is available" and
suggested I install it. The link led me to Microsoft xp
support.
In my computer, under system, it says "Windows xp pro
version 2002". Under "Add/Remove Programs", however, I
have about 25 "windows xp hotfix (sp1)" items listed and
one "windows xp hotfix (xp 2). When I type "cmd" then
viewj..)w/ c prompt, I get a number of things, not a red
warning that it isn't supported.
Do I have sp1 installed or not? do I need sp1a?

Thanks, Joe

The near-end of your post became confusing..... just run System
Information, under Accessories/System Tools.
Select System Summary, and it will tell you whether you've got SP1.

Sounds like you do not, though. And if not, then you do need it.
