Ok, I'm having quite a hard time with Windows XP and IE!

I can't use IE. Everytime I open the browswer window, it
will work for about 2 or 3 seconds, then it freezes up,
and the I have to click the red X in the corner to exit.

Then it tells me I have an unresponsive program, and so I
click on End Now. It says I've chosen to end an
nonresponsive program, and to tell Microsoft about this
problem. I click Send Error report.

This happens ALL THE TIME. I can NO LONGER access IE and
am doing this thru AOL. I have cable, but I have to dial
up thru AOL to actually use the internet, and I can't use
any broweser outside of AOL or it freezes up.

I tried to update Windows, however it can't be
accomplished through AOL and I have NO OTHER WAY of doing
this. What can I do??? Someone PLEASE help me... I'm so
at a loss here!!!

Thank you!!
Gina

Here's something you can try:
Boot into safe mode (hit F8 after the BIOS initilizes and BEFORE you see
the XP Splash screen - Choose Safe Mode from the menu. It's the first
option). Start IE and see if the problem continues. If not then Hit,
Tools->Internet Options, Advaced tab, uncheck the box about 3rd party
toolbars. From the itial view of the Advance tab, it would be the last
item in the list without scrolling.

If that doesn't work, I would suggest heading to the following newgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6

That newsgroup was made to help with IE problems.

I would start with installing AdAware and running that.
You can download it from www.lavasoft.de. You should
also uninstall any "HotBar" type search bars you have.
You can also try downloading and reinstalling Internet
Explorer from Microsoft's download center. You can
download these files on another computer and tranfer them
via CD/Floppy, or see if any other browsers, such as
Netscape, are installed on your computer.
