Billy;
Windows XP Home is not licensed for and does not include IIS.

If you have Windows XP Pro, go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control
Panel.
Click "Add/Remove Windows Components" on the left side.
Place a check by "Internet Information Service"
Click OK and follow prompts.

Do you have Windows XP Professional or Windows XP Home Edition?

If XP Home, read this:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=304197
You can use a 3rd party alternative:
http://www.apache.org/
(Or easier for the newbies out there:)
http://www.yellowtip.com/products/yellowtipws.php

But in your case, this would likely not get you what you needed. There is a
(untested on my part) "hack" that might get you what you need.
http://www.15seconds.com/issue/020118.htm
or
http://www.webthang.co.uk/tuts/tuts_server/iis_xph/pippo_xp.asp

Otherwise, you will have to purchase and install Windows XP Professional.

*IF* you have Windows XP Professional, then you need to install IIS..
http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/pro/evaluation/overviews/iis.asp

That should give you the information (including how to install it in the
second paragraph) needed to use it.

first of all, Jupiter Jones & Shenan Stanley, thanks for responding. I am using xp home edition but don't have a home xp disc, I was told if I need to reload home xp I'll just use the 4 recovery disc included when I bought the e machine.. I 'm not even sure if IIS is the problem of my system. It just show up when I try to install TMCM to clean my system. Anyway thanks again to both of you. I'll go and check out your advices . take care
