help Infected word 2007

os wxp ,office for student 2007 , word documents being deleted.Scaned with
Avg, windows live and panda anti virus. failed to detect infection. Is a list
available of known exploits causing this behaviour.
If this is the incorrect site to post this Question Please supply correct
Forum location.

Usually word infection is located in the normal.dot file.

You are looking for 'macros' assigned to the Normal.dot template file. The
Word menu will allow you to see what macros are assigned to normal.dot, and
all documents.

She now tells me that her Cleanup desktop icon wizard is turned off but that
the pop up wizard keeps persisting with the offer to delete the icon she
tries to use to open an application with any ideas

Many of those desktop cleanup problems stem from some loss of the date/time
functions. Perhaps it's as simple as a dead mobo battery. If not, I would
think the system is losing the regisry on shutdown, and is going for 'last
known good config' on restart. You will want a look at the activity via some
app like Process Explorer.

Thank you for your help.

In the end I swaped computers and have now completed a reinstall which is up
and running in perfect order untill it comes a cropper with said student.
Too bad I did not locate the problem May be next time.
