Help!!!! I'm losing parts of XP and freezing up

HI, I'm trying to find the reason I do not have anything
in the Accessories folder. After downloading updates
there is nothing in the program. Now I lost Checkers. I
called MS and since I bought the computer from HP I was
told to call them, but since the computer is 3 years old
HP told me to "buy another computer". They will not help
with an "old computer".
I have been having problems swo I tried to "Restore to an
earlier date" but when I try I get the message "unable to
restore".
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like you need to either run System File Checker (SFC) or doing a
repair installation. To run SFC, go to Start, Run, type in "sfc" and hit
OK.

To perform a repair installation, follow the instructions listed at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315341&Product=winxp.
A succesful repair installation will not lose any of your files or require
other software to be installed unless they too became corrupted.
