I need a computer pro to walk me through fixing my XP
windows computer. While trying to delete Symantec files in
order to get NSW 2004 to install (another problem), I
deleted an important system file. It was right under
symantec in the registry.

Now I can't reboot my system. I tried to repairfrom the CD
(changed the order in the BIOS so it would reboot from the
CD), but when the reboot gets to Starting Windows (Blue
screen), I get a STOP command (darker blue screen).

How can I repair the registry, when it won't let me use
the CD?

I am desperate. My laptop went down this morning with a
bad hard drive (brand new Dell D600). Now my desktop is
down. I have torn up TWO computers in one day. That is a
record.

Please help me get the CD to repair Windows.

hi, i am not a pro, but recently had a similar experience
after installing norton system works. do you have emergency
disks? i had to use a computer at school to make recovery
disks, using the norton system works CD--direction are in
the manual on page 18 or so I think. make the emergency
disks and then you can use nortons disc doctor to repair
the hard drive. There is also a way to revert back to the
status of the system before doing the NSW install, but i
can't remember enough details. I found this on the norton
website, not in the manual. Good luck.
