As Knowledge base pointed out you can get to the safe mode
so you can take the ownership of old folders. But when I
reboot and keep taping F8, it still bring me to regular XP
log in. Can anyone help why I can't? Is F8 work for XP
home edition or just for XP pro or multiple op systems?
thanks!

It should work on XP Home or Pro. Click Start, Run and enter MSCONFIG Go
to the BOOT.INI tab. Check the /SAFEBOOT option and Ok your way out. This
forces the system to boot into Safe Mode on the next reboot. Simply go back
in and uncheck the box while in Safe Mode to restore the normal boot.
