Please use the subject line for the purpose intended -- to give
an indication of your post's content. We already know you need
help. Why else would you be posting?

As to the problem, the simplest solution is to use DHCP so
each machine is dynamically given an IP addres by the router.

If you must assign static IP addresses, ensure they are within
the router's given range (most will be in the range 192.168.0.0,
subnet mask 255,255,255,0). The router usually reserves the
first address for itself (such as 192.168.0.1).

If neither solution works for you, provide more detail on your
actual setup. How many computers, dynamic or static addressing,
whether mac addresses are specified or not, security settings, etc.
The more information you provide the easier it will be to find a
solution.

Sorry m8 i am panicing ok, i have two computers running i was trying to
block others using the computer as 2 unknown people according to DHCP are
using my computer too, so i set the tick for the mac filtering and rebooted
my machine and now i cant get on the internet with the router plugged in. I
now have to just use myt telewest modem to get on line, if i plug the router
in as before nothing, i type the 198.168.2.1 in to the address bar and says
page cannot be displayed so i cant get in to untick the mac filtering which
i presume will fix the problem. I use blueyonder with a dynamic ip which i
originally done when setting up the belkin router

When using mac filtering you must specify which mac addresses are
allowed. Since you don't appear to have done this, you've effectvely
blocked everything and everyone from the router.

First, obtain the mac addresses for the NIC cards in both machines.

To do this, open a command prompt (Start | Run | CMD) and enter:

IPCONFIG /ALL

Locate the appropriate network adapter (you may have more than one)
and take note of the mac address (a 6-byte number in hexadecimal, such
as 00-0E-A6-CE-D0-6F). Do this on each machine.

You then need to reset the router back to factory defaults. I'm not
familiar with your router (Belkin alone tells me nothing) so you'll have
to consult the user manual for this.

Once done, you can enter the two mac addresses into the router and
enable mac filtering.

your easiest solution will be to locate the reset button on the back of your
router, hold this in for about 20 seconds this will then be reset to factory
default, then just redo all your settings to your satisfaction

I believe Linksys is 192.168.1.1 I do not know about Belkin.
