Hi,

Here's what I am trying to do. I have a laptop with Office 2000 on
it, with an extensive database built up in OUTLOOK. I have a desk top
that took over from the laptop about two years ago, and it is running
Office 2003. My question is how do I combine the backup.pst file from
the Laptop (2000), which ended 2 years ago, with the .pst file from
the Desktop (2003) which started two years ago?

Copy the file to the desktop. Then use File->Open->Outlook Data file. Open
the archive and use drag and drop to combine them. Once combined, close the
archive by right clicking and select "close."

Milly,

Many thanks, I'll let you know how I make out. I'm planning on dong a
fresh install of OUTLOOK, any tips on that little chore?

Milly,

Ok, I'm missing something here. I have the backup.pst file from the
laptop copied to the Desktop of the desktop (hmmmm, well you know what
I mean), Then I go into OUTLOOK and using File->Open-> Outlook Data
file, I locate the file on the desktop and open it, I see a hit on the
screen and nothing else. Where do I start dragging and dropping?

Sorry to be so dense.

If you've been able to open it in Outlook, then you'll have a second set of
folders in the Folder List on the left side. That second set of folders is
the backup PST you opened. You should be able to copy those folders (for
any of the non-default folders like Calendar, Contacts, etc) by
right-clicking and dragging them to your current folder file and choosing
Copy. FOr the default folders, you will need to open each in turn, select
the items (CTRL-A selects all) and dragging them to their corresponding
default folder in your current set of folders. Yo may need to change the
View to "By Category" before you select them.

Is that clear?
